Joining our chapter

National Honor Society is a national organization that recognizes students who excel in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Students will be invited to apply for NHS membership their junior and/or senior year if they have a cumulative GPA of 3.65 or higher.

If you have been invited to apply and need the Google Form, click here. The Google form needs to be completed by November 23rd (the last day before Thanksgiving break). Once you have completed the Google Form, Miss Krstulic will email you the written portion of the application. The written portion is due to Miss Krstulic by December 9th.

How will you decide who gets in to NHS?

The NHS application and evaluation process will be undertaken by a Faculty Council of five members. Each student's application will be reviewed and applicants will be scored based on the following point guidelines

GPA

+1 for GPA over 3.85 +2 for 4.0 GPA

Course Load Difficulty

+.5 for each college course/AP class completed

Teacher Surveys

Teachers will give each student scores out of 5 for leadership, service, character. These scores will be averaged to create a score out of 5 points

Service

+1 for each service project/activity with reference information

Note: service noted on application cannot be mandatory service for any other institution or organization.

Leadership

+1 for each leadership experience

Essay (Character)

Scored by Faculty Council using a rubric the Council created together. The essays will be blind assessed, meaning the scorer will not know the identity of the applicant. Each essay will be scored twice, then those scores will be averaged for a score out of 5
